There are plenty of different varieties of trees out there to consider. Below are some commonly used trees to help with ideas and choices. If you like a certain variety look up the variety and see what other options, they have. We have access to 100's of plants and can source almost anything as long as it is for our region. All our plant material comes with a 90 day warranty to insure the plant material is good and takes with the new soil.
Red maples are fast-growing trees that usually reach 60 to 90 feet (18 to 27 meters) in height. The largest ones can grow more than 120 feet (36.5 meters) tall. Red maples are native to the eastern deciduous forest. They're found from Maine west to Minnesota, south to Texas, and east to Florida.
Redbud, is native to the eastern third of Kansas. It is a small flat-topped tree reaching a height of 10 to 20 feet with a crown of 15 to 20 feet. Redbud can grow about 12 to 18 inches per year. Redbud is easily recognized in the spring by it profusion of bright pink flowers.
Leyland cypress trees grow in a pyramidal, conical shape with flattened sprays of bluish-green, needled leaves. They grow to an impressive height of 40-60 feet if not pruned down, with a spread of 15-20 feet. Growing 3 feet or more by their second year, Leyland cypress trees achieve this great height quickly.
Moderate growing; reaches 6 to 8 ft. tall, 5 to 6 ft. wide. Prefers light, slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils, but highly adaptable. The Steeds Holly growth rate has an upright growth habit and will grow 6-12 inches per year.
'Needlepoint' is one of the best hollys for use as a screen in the landscape and is also effective when planted en mass or in a group. It takes well to pruning and can be grown as a hedge up to 15 feet tall or trained to be a small tree up to 20 feet tall.
Stevens' holly is a woody, broadleaf evergreen tree or shrub in the holly family (Aquifoliaceae). It is a hybrid cultivar of I. aquifolium and I. cornuta, quickly matures to a height of 15 to 30 feet and a width of 8 to 25 feet and is a heavy producer of bright red berries.
Growing slowly in a pyramidal form 5 to 6 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide at the base, the Golden Dwarf Hinoki Cypress is ideal for use as an eye-catching focal point specimen in small garden spaces and home foundation plantings, and is effective in small groupings in larger spaces.
It will reach heights of up to 12 feet tall and get can get as wide as 6-8 feet. But don't worry, it will maintain its pyramid form and does not require any pruning. However, if you prefer, you can keep it a certain height and width by keeping it pruned throughout the year.
Genus name comes from the Latin name for the juniper. Specific epithet means of Virginia. 'Taylor' is an upright narrow columnar eastern red cedar that typically grows to 15-20' tall but to only 3-4' feet wide.
Growing 20 to 30 feet tall and 15 to 20 feet wide, the single trunk Crape Myrtle is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or in straight, curved or staggered rows to line a drive or property line. It grows large enough to provide some welcome shade around patios, decks and other outdoor living spaces.
Dark coral pink blooms and red-tinged immature leaves turn dark green, then orange-red in fall. The mottled and light brown bark is spectacular. Grows 10 to 15 feet tall and 8 to 12 feet wide.
The Little Gem has beautiful shaped oblong leaves that are 5 to 7 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide. Little Gems have small leaves that are stiff and leathery with a deep glossy green color on top and a bronze-brown fuzzy underside.
Emerald Green Arborvitae is one of the most popular arborvitae varieties and is known for its extremely narrow habit of growth. This narrow arborvitae has a bright green foliage color that holds well all winter. Emerald Green will grow about 12-14' tall by 3-4' wide.
'Green Giant' has a low-branching, dense columnar-pyramidal habit. Dark green sprays of small, glossy, scale-like needles retain their deep green color through the winter. This tree can grow 3 to 4 feet per year in optimal conditions and reach a mature height of 40 to 60 feet and a width of 12 to 18 feet.
Forever Goldy® Arborvitae is an upright pyramidal conifer with bright yellow foliage. It is drought-tolerant and deer resistant. It grows to a mature height of 10-12' x 3-3.5' spread.
The Tamukeyama Japanese maple size is up to 6-10 feet tall and 10-12 feet wide at maturity. It forms a dome wider than its height to offer a beautiful burst of color all season long. The Tamukeyama Japanese maple growth rate is moderate and can grow up to 1-2 feet per year.
Bloodgood Japanese maple trees have vibrant foliage throughout most of the year. They grow in a rounded, upright shape, with thin branches sprouting from either a single trunk or multiple sub-trunks. The trees reach a maximum height of 15-25 feet tall, with a spread of 15-20 feet.
